Demons

Seven Deadly Sins

Cosmology

The Underworld is a hell-like place where demons reside, it's located in the roots below the World Tree, below the remains of Yorthe and the clouds of the Afterworld. It's ruled by the Devil King Valtyr, the "bad" split of the past King Odin. This hell-like place has 4 distinct realms, all home to different species of demons besides Jotunheim, the capital, and all ruled by different Devils appointed and created by Devil King Valtyr. The rainbow bridge Bifröst, which extends from the Underworld to the Afterworld, is protected by powerful Drudes to prevent demons from going to the Afterworld and angels from coming to the Underworld.
The demons that retreated to the Underworld also brought animals like cattle with them, but the animals that followed them were the amphibians and reptiles, thriving in the murky parts and depths of the Underworld. These animals also mutated to fit the environment of the Underworld and some of them even consumed the Demon Plasma that is rich there. Due to being underground, the Underworld doesn't have anything like sunlight, stars, clouds, moonlight or the like. Instead the "night sky" features earthy rock, the fleshy roots of the World Tree and stalactites. The environment of the Underworld is very cave-like, some demons even digging tunnels to specific places and villages within the Underworld for faster travel. The caves are full of minerals used for crafting tools, jewelery, accessories, equipment and other items.
Jotunheim

Jotunheim is the capital of the Underworld, founded quickly after the other 3 realms were established, it's ruled by the trickster god, Loki. Entertainment such as fashion, music, cabaret and circus troupes are extremely popular here and the residents thrive off of it; flashy outfits and gothic-type fashion dominate Jotunheim, residents stand out and shine no matter who they are. Black and red are very common colours to see demons wearing in Jotunheim but bright colours can be seen too. Jotunheim is a huge cave with thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. It has various different heights and also different accommodations for all the types of demons that live there. It’s a bustling city with a large population of all kinds of demons, it uses trains and carriages as a form of transport.
Trickster devil Loki rules this realm and has his own accommodation in Devil King Valtyr's castle. It's located at the top of the roots of the World Tree.
Hel

Hel is the realm of the Draugr, the undead, located in the roots of the World Tree underneath the other 3 realms. This realm is cold (but not the “snowy cold” type of cold, but the cave-like, mossy type of coldness) and eerie and gives anybody who isn't a native the chills just walking through the place. The rocks in Hel are of a blue-gray colour, with a thick coat of moss covering them, it also has dense leafless forests that span for miles. Hel has a lot of different ores that the residents like to make things out of like tools, jewellery, weapons and other things. Deformed demons who didnt rebirth properly can be found in this realm and they are usually killed on site. There is a dungeon in Hel named Nastrond, usually where deformed demons go if they’re not killed, and where Draugrs go if they do horrific things.
The Devil Hel rules over this realm and she has a castle where she resides.
Muspelheim

Muspelheim is the realm of the dragons and reptiles, located in the roots of the World Tree above Hel, underneath Jotunheim and next to Niflheim. This realm is very very hot and other demons besides dragons and reptiles cannot survive here. There is tons of stalagmites and stalactites here and the rocks are a red-brown colour, there's lava flowing through the cracks of the caves and there is a lot of lava pools that dragons can swim and bathe in. The ground is rocky so it’s hard for none dragons to travel due to the lack of wings. Caves are very very common in Muspelheim as they’re essentially houses for the dragons, its an unspoken rule not to go near cave houses as you’ll most likely be torn apart by the dragon who thinks you’re stealing their treasure,
Some dragons even reside inside of the volcanos that inhabit this place. Gems and other rare ores can be found here and are taken by the dragons to make jewellery and clothing items. The devil Surtr of flames rules over this realm.
Niflheim

Niflheim is the realm of the frost entities, located in the roots of the World Tree above Hel, underneath Jotunheim and next to Muspelheim. Niflheim is very very col dto the point other demons that stay here for too long will freeze over and they will die. It’s completely covered in snow and ice but there is a few plant life here and they are usually a cool dark green colour. This realm includes a ton of ice caves, icicles, snow and water, the air is extremely foggy and is hard to see through. The caves are huge and the ceiling is enormous to the point it looks like the outside. Frost entities live in communities with one another so most of their villages are close to eachother.
The devil who rules over this realm is Skadi, the devil of winter.
General

Demons are the inhabitants of the entirety of the Underworld, they are split into 3 different species but have no hierarchy. The appearance of demons can differ vastly depending on the species of demon however their plasma will always be purple. Their lifespan differs between the species but the average age between all angels is 200 years old (causing the demon population to be very dense). Demons cannot procreate with the angel race or with a different demon species than them, the most common way demons are born is through rebirth. When demons die whether they're killed or they've reached the end of their lifespan, they melt into a puddle of demon plasma and return to the ground, sometimes causing lakes of demon plasma.
Demons then rebirth through the plasma, the most common type are the undead due to demon plasma being dead demon goo so things like skeletons, ghosts and zombies occur. Demons embody negative concepts of human nature such as hatred, they live their lives as negative creatures without the acknowledgement that they can be positive. When a demon learns they are able to have positive concepts they spiral into doom and madness, as it's against their nature. There are demons who are well equipped in combat specifically to defend themselves from the angels, named Drudes. They learn from the Seven Deadly Sins and are assigned a sin to succeed in based on personality and goals. They use these sins to defeat angels as they are the only things that can kill them.
Draugr

Draugr are the demons who inhabit Hel in the Underworld. Draugrs are very hardworking types of demons, they thrive to make something of themselves and so a lot of them succeed in things like forgery, crafting. Draugrs value community and so there’s a lot of villages within Hel, especially for specific types of Dragurs. They often trade with eachother for tools, weapons, ores, supplies and more. Residents are usually seen wearing dark, cool-toned colours. Greens, greys and blues are most common. Common clothing seen are all types of tunics, regular pants, long skirts, puffy pants, boots. Some type of belt is also very common to hold tools and weapons. The top 3 common forms of Draugr are zombies, skeletons and ghosts, but other undead creatures can also appear.
Zombies are green, ghoulish looking creatures who can retain parts of other demons such as limbs and other body parts, skeletons are your average human-looking skeleton guys, and ghosts are grayscale transparent entities who float around Hel in search of a body. These demons only live for 70 years since they're already weak and fragile.

Dragons & Reptiles

Dragons & reptiles are the demons who inhabit Muspelheim in the Underworld (for conveience sake I'll be calling them all "dragons" as an umbrella term in this section). Dragons are very independent demons so they mostly live in sheltered caves by themselves and young dragons are left to fend for themselves. They are solitary creatures but they are able to form friendships, its just more a form of “what can you do for me” type friendship and not a “I genuinely care for you” friendship, but trading between dragons does happen only for basic common items. Residents are usually wearing things made from sometimes leather and metals. "Steampunk" type clothing is very common to see here but most of it will have a more rugged look. Colours include reds, browns, and creams.
Dragon demons are humanoid however they have scales all over their body, claws for hands and their legs are arched. They can come in many different shapes, sizes and colors. They’re often seen with scars on their bodies and faces due to getting in fights with other dragons. Dragons can either be created via rebirth or reproduction through eggs.

Frost Entities

Frost entities are the creatures who inhabit Niflheim in the Underworld. They are usually seen using snow as clothing as in Niflheim it doesn’t melt, other than that they wear something between a mix of fluffy winter clothing and metal armour. Colours include cream, white, silver, gold, grey, blue and purple. Residents are completely made out of ice ,including their "hair", which can range from all different shades of a cool blue, from dark blue to a light icy blue. Their "hair" can come in all different colours. Their bodies and "hair" can come in all shapes and sizes and these beings are mostly humanoid.

Hierarchy

There's no clear cut "hierarchy" of demons like there is angels, but there is defintely powerful demons and devils who work for Devil King Valtyr, these include:
• Loki, the devil of tricksters and ruler of Jotunheim.
• Hel, the devil of the dead and ruler of Hel.
• Skadi, the devil of winter and ruler of Niflheim.
• Surtr, the devil of flames and ruler of Muspelheim.
• Seven Deadly Sins, the sins of hell who have power over the power of sin.
Seven Deadly Sins

The seven deadly sins are as follows:
• Satan: Wrath
• Beelzebub: Gluttony
• Mammon: Greed
• Leviathan: Envy
• Belphegor: Sloth
• Lucifer: Pride
• Asmodeus: Lust

Each deadly sin is able to be surpassed and taken over by a drude who embodies the sin, in doing so they will become that seven deadly sin and take on their name. Deadly sins can retire from their position and appoint a new deadly sin.

Seven Deadly Sins

Sins are the power system in the underworld that Drudes and Drude learners are allowed to use. They are specifically for the sole purpose of defeating angels and other demons are immune to them. Drudes may only wield one sin at a time and anymore is strictly prohibited to both learners and teachers, it is frowned upon to wield more than one sin. In the beginning of training the sin is quite weak however with more training it can become extremely strong.
Wrath

- Has a red aura
- Gives the user super strength that they are able to manipulate to their will
- Users are able to use things like rocks and other items infused with wrath to throw at their opponents
- Drawback: it makes the user quite slow at attacks and moving so they have to plan accordingly

Gluttony

- Has an orange aura
- User is able to summon food to strengthen and heal allies
- Specific foods do specific things
- Drawback: Gluttony drudes are quite weak and need protecting, they don’t have a lot of strength

- Has a golden aura
- User drains the opponent of their energy and is able strengthen themselves
- Drawback: they can’t strengthen allies and their power has a long cooldown

Envy

- Has a green aura
- Users are able to transform into the opponents greatest desires and use it against them, making them weak, vulnerable and scared.
- Drawback: attacks have to be quick and speedy as the transformation won’t last long

Sloth

- Has a blue aura
- Users can put the opponents in a drowsy state, making it easier for them to attack and disarm their opponents
- Drawback: opponents are able to withstand the drowsy attack if effected for too long or multiple times

Pride

- Has a purple aura
- Users are able to manipulate the opponent into thinking they are the greatest person in the world, causing them to do whatever they want them to do with limits. They can however make the opponent attack their allies, lightly injure themselves or even surrender.
- Drawback: the user cannot put the opponent to sleep, make them kill themselves or heavily injure themselves

Lust

- Has a pink aura
- Users are able to charm their way into getting what they want, putting the opponent in a confused state, making them harm their allies or themselves
- Drawback: causes the user to enter a bloodlust state, isn’t reccommended to be used very often
